Laois manager John Sugrue revealed that they are looking to give the county's supporters a platform where they are proud of the side.

The Kerry native has the O'Moore County going in the right direction after they won the NFL 4 title and advanced to the Leinster SFC quarterfinal following their extra time win over Wexford last weekend.

Speaking to the Leinster Express, Sugrue stressed that the supporters are coming out in force to cheer on the team, which is one of their aims for the year.

"People asked me before, when I took up this job, about the supporters and the lack of support, but you can see the supporters are willing, once the boys deliver to some degree. The boys are delivering, thank God and long may it continue," said Sugrue.

"We want to give the people of Laois a platform to support, and a team to support, in a real and earnest manner, if we play the football that we are capable of playing. Thankfully, we got it out of ourselves eventually, but we can't be as lax as that in the future."
