Roscommon youngster Ciaran Lennon has been ruled out for 'at least eight weeks' with a broken thumb.

Ian Cooney of the Roscommon Herald revealed the news of the Clann na nGael clubman's injury on Twitter yesterday:

The 19-year-old will miss his county's Connacht SFC semi-final clash against Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday week, as well as a potential final date with Galway or Sligo on June 17.

His absence represents a huge blow to Kevin McStay's side in their bid to retain the JJ Nestor Cup, and even more so for Shane Curran's U20's ahead of their upcoming championship campaign.

A regular at full-forward in his debut season with the seniors, Lennon joins a long list of players on the Roscommon treatment table at the moment, including his older brother Fergal, club-mate Ultan Harney and Niall Daly.
