Waterford hurling star Jamie Barron was red-carded in a club football championship game yesterday.

The double All-Star winner and Hurler of the Year nominee was sent off along with his brother Tom in The Nire's SFC first round encounter with Clashmore in Ardmore. Tom was dismissed on a black card in the 36th minute and was followed for an early shower by Jamie three minutes later after he picked up a second yellow card.

Despite losing the Barron brothers, last year's beaten finalists The Nire prevailed on a 6-5 to 1-10 scoreline.
