Ryan Cup: Kilkenny pair fire Maynooth to final victory

Second half goals from MJ Lalor and Aaron Amond helped Maynooth University to a facile victory over Ulster University in the Ryan Cup final at Mallow this afternoon.
Kilkenny pair Padraig Walsh and Sean Buggy (four frees) also posted 0-5 each as the Kildare college followed up on their narrow win over IT Tralee yesterday. With Walsh, Buggy and the excellent Brian Hogan to the fore, the winners led by 0-11 to 0-4 at half-time before Amond goaled shortly after the restart to end the game as a contest.
Laois' Lalor raised a second green flag in the 44th minute after following up on Buggy's rebounded effort. UU replied with points from James O'Connell, Aidy Kelly and Kevin Rice before Walsh, Buggy and sub Cathal Kirwan embellished the scoreline for Maynooth.
