Wrist injury rules Fennelly out of All Star tour

10 November 2011

Kilkenny's Michael Fennelly
Kilkenny midfielder Michael Fennelly will play no part in the forthcoming All Star hurling tour to San Francisco.

It has emerged that the Hurler of the Year sustained a broken scaphoid bone in his left wrist during his club Ballyhale Shamrocks' Kilkenny SHC final replay defeat to James Stephens last Sunday week, and has been ruled out action for the rest of the year.

However, he should be back to full fitness in plenty of time for the start of Kilkenny's 2012 campaign. It's not the first time Fennelly has suffered this particular injury, having broken the scaphoid bone in his right wrist earlier this year. Despite the injury, Fennelly is still expected to travel with the All Stars, who depart for San Francisco on November 30.
