Keane, Sean

January 02, 2008
The Late Sean Keane It is with great sadness that we record the untimely death of Sean Keane on Christmas day. We wish to extend our sympathy to his heartbroken parents Colm and Una. Sean was a member of the underage hurling teams that set the standard for the rest of the club over the last ten years, initially winning an under-12 medal back in 1999. His last game before illness intervened was in the 2003 under-16 hurling championship, where he played in goal. Prior to this Sean had excelled at corner-back up to and including Minor grade. He was also known to 'dabble' in a bit of gaelic football, but he had a great gra for hurling - particularly Cork hurling, and was known to wear a pair of the great Joe Deane's shorts at training and took great pride and joy in witnessing the success of the Cork team in recent years whether in Thurles, Pairc Ui Caoimh or Croke Park. For some reason he enjoyed the wins over Tipperary and Waterford more than most! Sean touched many of our lives and has been in our thoughts and prayers over the course of his illness which he bore, as always, with great dignity. He will always have a place in the hearts of the hurling community in Bray where he is remembered as a kind, gentle and thoughtful person who displayed a steely determination on the field of play which he graced with both skill bravery. Sean, it was a privilege for us to have had you as a teammate. Ar Dheis De go raibh a anam. Courtesy of the Wicklow People. 2 January 2008
