Leigh, Pat

The Late Pat Leigh A number of bereavements to GAA families in recent weeks. One was the death of Dunlavin native Pat Leigh at his home in England. Pat was an exceptionally talented young footballer and had the unusual distinction of playing Minor football for Wicklow in 1959, 1960 and 1961 - three years in a row. He played for Dunlavin in IFC final of 1960 but they lost to Ashford, and in days of mass unemployment in the land Pat took the boat to England. His loss was severely felt by his own club and county. His remains were brought home for burial in his native town and the Dunlavin club provided a guard of honour and gave him a fitting send-off. To his wife, brothers, sisters and family we extend our sympathy. Courtesy of the Wicklow People 16 August 2007
