Ever here about the one where a Wicklow GAA club purchased 30 acres of land to develop new facilities?

If you haven't, then you have now as the St Patrick's club have taken the first steps in an ambitious plan following the purchase of 30 acres to facilitate their ever-increasing member base.

The Wicklow town based club's current current is one adult and one juvenile pitch and with no room to expand their facilities, they have not option to move grounds.

With over 700 members to cater for, the need for more pitches is greater than ever and club chairman John Gill told the Wicklow People that purchasing the land was the first step in moving to their new home.

"I am delighted with this development as this secures the long-term future for St Pat's GAA club and its future members for generations to come," stated Gill.

"I would like to thank those who have helped us this far and I look forward to the next chapter in our great club's history."

The club which is in existence since 1886 caters for teams in both hurling, football, camogie and ladies football from adult right  down to juvenile level.
