AGB Juvenile notes
May 07, 2012
Both of our U 14 teams had great wins last Wednesday with the 13s beating Laragh in a very competitive game in Pearses Pk on a scoreline of 4-08 to 1-05, the team were well supported by their U12 colleagues as everyone got maximum game time on the night.
The U14 team had an easy away victory over an under strength Carnew team, but again this allowed all of the peripheral players maximum game time in a very one sided affair.
The 13s were out for the second time in 2 days on Friday last with an away game against Ashford, the black and amber team were physically stronger than our young guns on the night as they notched up some very impressive scores on the shorter pitch which was set up for 11 a side, however our lads battled hard until the end, a special note for goalkeeper Nathan Wolohan who came out to the centre of the park for the second half and won some great ball to set up his team for some excellent scores.
The U14s had to take a walkover for their rescheduled game which Kilmac/Enniskerry failed to field a team on 2 occasions in the space of a week.
Well done to both sets of management for fielding teams at a time when there are so many demands on their players while other codes of sport are trying to finish off their respective seasons.
No games this week for these teams as the hurling takes centre stage for the Rocks this week, good luck to all involved.
Our U11s played host to Monageer Club from Wexford who were travelling to Croker for the big double header on the 28th April.
We had a great game of football while The Rocks took on the visitors in a game of hurling. The team on the day were: Jake Keegan, Sean Molloy, Iarla O Donnell, Chris Furlong, Ryan Sheridan, Ryan Tolan, Des Byrne, Conor Jameson, Pierce Cullen & Dylan Byrne.
Our U16s played host to St Kevins in their last League encounter, a very lack lustre performance saw the home side defeated by 7 points in what can only be described as a poor game of football, Best for the Arklow lads were Fiacha McCrudden, Eoghan Doyle, Jamie Carthy & JP Sheehan.
The lads have put in a massive effort in training since and hope to put in a much better performance against Michael Dwyers this week.
The U11s & 12s are also away to Baltinglass this week in their Mini league series.
