Blessington club notes

Wicklow GAA - Well done to the Wicklow football team who beat Sligo in Aughrim 1-15 to 1-10 and also to the Wicklow hurlers who beat Mayo away 1-13 to 1-16. Unfortunately, the ladies weren’t as lucky and were beaten away to Kildare 2-11 to 1-07.  

 

Fixtures – Seniors at home v AGB Sat 22 Feb at 3.30pm. Div 3 away v Hollywood 6 Mar, Div 4 West home v Baltinglass 16 Apr.

 

Ladies – Our Senior ladies enjoyed a very unique football session on Valentines night with guest coach Mick Bohan (Dublin Senior ladies manager). Mick instilled the idea of good practice, effective communication and team-work within the group. Fantastic guidance for this squad as their competitive season kicks off next weekend. Div 1 Cup at home v Clara. Time TBC.

 

Lotto – No winner of the lotto on 11 Feb. Jackpot 2000. Numbers drawn were 10, 12, 19, 25. 3 people matched 3 numbers and each win €100 – Frances Lambe, Chris/Paddy O’Connor, Nicholas Shirran c/o Hennessys. Blessington GAA are going SMOKE AND VAPE FREE – The club will launch this initiative on Daffodil Day on 27 March. We will be running an art competition in the community to ask the children to create a poster incorporating NO SMOKING. The winning entry will be chosen by some local artists and will be displayed in the GAA Grounds all year.

 

Get Ireland Walking - In conjunction with Wicklow Sports Partnership and joining in with RTE'S Operation Transformation, Blessington GAA will be taking part in Get Ireland Walking for the duration of the programme. Meeting at McGreals opposite the playground every Sat at 10am.
