Our Leinster Championship campaign ended cruelly on Sunday in Aughrim in a penalty shoot out when both St Patricks and Portlaoise could not be separated during normal time and in extra time. Full time score: St Patricks 1-06 Portlaoise 0-09 with the Portlaoise equaliser coming in injury time. Extra time score: St Patricks 2-08 Portlaoise 1-11. The best of luck to Portlaoise as they advance to the Leinster Semi-final against Eire Og (Carlow).

In post match interviews both Managers posed the question of replays. We would have had no problem in going down to Portlaoise and playing a replay. Even if you have to play it on a Wednesday night under lights, it’s a better way of going out than on penalties. I think it’s something that they have to look at.” I think the large crowd on Sunday would have enjoyed another titanic game of football between two teams that delivered an excellent game of football, that was not for the faint hearted.
