Blessington club notes

U20’s – Hard luck to the lads who lost today away v Eire Og Greystones on Sun 10 Nov. Teams were level at 0-8 each at half-time. A quick 1-3 in the second half had Eire Og on a run of points with Blesso scoring just 0-1 in the second half. We now are in the B championship with semis played in neutral venues on 17 November. Finals in Aughrim on 24 November. Details TBC.

 

U13’s – Rising Stars. Football Winter Program. This program began in 4 venues on 18 Oct from 7.30 – 8.30pm. The venue for Blessington is Baltinglass GAA. Further dates 16 and 22 Nov. The program will be run by Wicklow coaching and games GDAs with the assistance of club coaches and is open to any player born in 2006.

 

U13’s – Our lads had their end of year party in KBOWL on Sun 10 Nov. The lads had a great time.

 

Lotto – No winner of €6400 jackpot. Numbers drawn 4-12-23-28. 3 matched 3 numbers @€100 each – Pauline McGarry c/o Pat Molloy, Cristy Meehan c/o Scal, Tony McLoughlin, Glending Place. Date for your diary – Club fundraiser. Fri 15 November 2019. Tickets €10 which enters you into both draws and entry to Newbridge Stadium. 2 buster draws with 1st prize of €750, 2nd prize €400, 3rd Prize €300, 5th prize €200 and 5 prizes of €100. You can nominate a dog for €50 and this entitles you to Free entry and €100 if dog wins. It was a terrific night last year. Bus will be available on the night. Paddy Magee and Pete Nolan Man of the match will be held on Sat 16 Nov v Ballymore in Blessington GAA at 2pm. TBC.

 

Date for your Diary – Girls presentation evening in Blessington Community College on Thurs 21 Nov. Juvenile presentations Thurs 28 Nov in Community College at 7.30pm U10’s to U17’s and at 7 Dec in St Kevin’s Hall for U7 and U9 at 6.45pm.


Bingo – Many thanks to all who attended our themed Halloween Bingo night on 30 Oct. Congrats to Peggy Curran and Nora Kearns who won a carvery lunch in The Avon. Some great photos on our Facebook page. Next Bingo on Wed 13 Nov at 8.15pm sharp in The Avon. Cost €10 includes jackpot and flyer sheets. Half books available for children €2.00 each. Condolences – It was with sadness and shock that the club heard of the sudden passing of Frankie Keogh on Tues 5 Nov. Condolence to his son Patrick, wife Kathleen, sisters Kathleen and Adrienne and family and friends. Frankie played Junior football for the club and in 1990 won a Hennessey Cup medal. Some of his teammates and members of Blessington GAA formed a Guard of Honour on Sat. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

 

Physio – Physio is now finished for the season. Any issues adults call Pat Molloy and Juvenile through Barry Cotter.


Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others – G4M team is looking for new members. If you fancy trying something new and meeting some new people, please come along and try it out on Tues evenings at 7pm.


Healthy Club Project - Lisa Jackson and Michelle Richardson represented the club at the launch of the Wicklow Smoke Free policy on 3 Nov in Aughrim.

Clothing Collection ongoing - collecting good quality second-hand clothing suitable for re-use. Please fill as many black bin bags as you can – the more we collect, the more our club receives.
