Blessington club notes

Lotto – No winner of the Blessington GAA Lotto jackpot of €5800 on Tues 24 Sep. Numbers drawn were 11, 18, 23,26. No winners of match 3 numbers so €300 will be carried forward to next draw on 8 Oct in The West Wicklow House. Jackpot now stands at €6000. Tickets can be bought from players, committee members and local businesses. Thanks for continued support. 

 

Bingo – The nights are closing in and time to pencil in your local bingo every Wed evening. Next Bingo on Wed 2 Oct at 8.15pm sharp in The Avon. Cost €10 includes jackpot and flyer sheets. Jackpot now €3500! Please spread the word and support.

 

Seniors – Well, there won’t be many semi-finals like that again! It’s a replay for Blessington v AGB on Sat 5 at 3.30pm in Aughrim. After normal time, extra time and a penalty shoot-out the sides were locked, and a replay was called. The lads need your support to get them over the line into the final of the Wicklow Senior Football Championship v St Pat’s on 13 Oct. Everyone is asked to come out and support the lads and management. Bring your flags and bunting and voices. Final score after extra time– 2-14 to 0-20.Blesso scorers: M. O'Connor 0-6, E. Juniors – Our Junior A team beat Baltinglass well in the quarter finals in Hollywood on Fri 27 Sept to reach the semi-final v Valleymount in Hollywood on Sat 5 Oct at 11.45. Please come out and support the lads and bring your flags and bunting and voices. Final score Blesso 2-12 Balto 0-5.

 

Physio - Upstairs in the clubhouse this coming week on Wed 2 Oct at 7pm. Adults needing full physio appointments MUST go through Pat Molloy and Juvenile through Barry Cotter.

 

Ladies

U12’s – Blitz in Ballinakill on Sun 6 Oct at 11am.

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others – G4M team is looking for new members. If you fancy trying something new and meeting some new people, please come along and try it out on Tues evenings at 7pm.

 

Juveniles

U17’s – On Mon 23 Sept the Minor lads lost out to Bray in the Minor Football League Division 1 A Championship. Blessington 2-15 Bray 3-16.

U15’s – Training Wed 7pm and Friday 5:30pm. Championship final 2:30 Sat 5th V Bray. Venue tbc.

U13’s – Lads had a friendly V St Kevin's on Thursday night and both teams played very well and a lot was got from game. Blue Squad play An Tochar Wed 2 Oct at 19.00 in Ballinakill in u13 Div 1 semi-final. Support for the lads would be much appreciated.

U12’s - NKL lads away v Cappagh at 4.30pm.

U11’s – U11 White squad travelled to Ballinakill for their final today. Unfortunately, we came up short against a very good Arklow team. The lads will learn loads from the defeat and can hold their heads very high with the coaches hugely proud of this team and their development this year. 13 of the 14 who played today are U11 again next year. Coaches would like to thank the parents for all their support today and throughout the year. 

U8’s – Away v Sallins x 2 on Sat 5 Oct at 2.30pm. TBC.

U10’s – NKL at home v Raheens at 3.30pm.

Academy – Only a couple of weeks left of our academy. Depending on weather it will wind up around Halloween. If your child is 4 or over, please send them down to the astro at 10am on Sat to try out for free.

 

Rounders - Blessington GAA are looking at the possibility of starting Rounders teams for juvenile ages (boys & girls). It's an official GAA sport and even has own Féile. If any parent is interested in training and attending coaching, please contact Kevin Gilmore on 0872324197.

 

Hurling

Minor Hurling – Minor Hurling County Final next Sunday: great to see so many Blessington lads lining out with Michael Dwyers in the Minor A Final next sunday in Aughrim 1.30 before the Senior Co Final. Best of luck to our lads Oisín Brogan, Jake O'Kelly, Conor Gilligan, Austin Brennan and Sam Gough.

 

U11’s –Western Gaels v Broadford in Blessington on Sun 6 Oct at 12 noon. U11’s away v Eire Og on Sun 6 Oct at 12.15pm.

Congratulations - Well done to Caoimhe Gilligan her selection for the Basketball Ireland U14 Regional Academies.
