Rathnew club notes

September 16, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

Jerseys and any other club gear are now on sale on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 9th September. Numbers 2, 4, 8, 29. We had 3 match 3. Joy Dickenson c/o Pam Keogh, Nicola Dickenson c/o Pam Keogh, Diane Richardson c/o Centra. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €12,700. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

The nursery continues every Saturday morning at 11.15 and it's for all kids aged 3 upwards so feel free to bring your little ones up and give it a try. We have a few bits of gear for sale, check the Facebook page or text Hazel 0860592935 for details.

The under 14 girls secured the league title last week beating Coolkenno 6-08 to 2-06 in another brilliant display from all the girls. They now have the championship final to look forward to on Saturday, venue and time tbc. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for details. Good luck to everyone involved.

The under 9 team had a brilliant day on Saturday taking part in the Sarsfields All Ireland blitz in Newbridge. Well done to all the players, coaches and parents for making it a day to remember.

The senior team lost out to Avondale on Sunday in the championship quarter final 1-15 to 1-14 after extra time. A few too many injuries finally caught up on us in what was a very stop start season but hopefully we can all learn from this and get a few more young lads through in the next couple of years. The Junior B team also exited the championship on Thursday losing out to Knockananna 1-18 to 1-14 in Avondale. They will be hugely disappointed with the result after winning the league undefeated, a good championship run was always the aim but it wasn't to be. The intermediate team lost to Ballinacor in a relegation play off on Sunday.

Both under 11 teams are in action on Wednesday at home to An Tochar in both games with 6.30 starts. The under 13s are playing Aughrim in Ballinakill on Friday at 7.30 in the championship and AGB on Monday at 6.30 in Arklow. The minors are playing Eire Og also on Monday in Ballinakill at 7 in the championship.

Condolences to the family and friends of Martin Doyle who sadly passed away last week. Martin lead the senior team around Aughrim in the parade before last years county final and will be missed by all. Congratulations to Jody Merrigan and his partner Aisling Hayden on the birth of their baby daughter.
