Football Final Members Draw - Winners of the Blessington GAA members draw for All Ireland Football tickets are – Cormac Roe, Frances Lambe and Barry Cotter.

Seniors – It’s a quarter final place for our Seniors who were up against St Pats on Sat 24 Aug in Aughrim in the Senior Football Championship Rd 5. Both teams were looking for top spot on the table after winning all 4 games. The winners were heading into the semis with the losers heading to the quarters. At half time the scoreline was St Pats 1-05 Blesso 1-02. The second half didn’t go as well and with a goal and a penalty for Pats this signalled the end for Blesso. Full time scoreline St Pats 2-12 Blesso 1-06. Scorers – Mick McLoughlin 1-1, Mikey O’Connor 0-2, Eoin Keogh 0-1, Curtis Geraghty 0-1, Kevin Hanlon 0-1.

Junior A –Rd 4 JAFC Lacken/Kilbride on Sun 24 Aug in Hollywood. Great win for the lads. Kilbride/Lacken 0-11 Blesso 5-15. Scorers for Blesso - Kevin Quinn 3-6, Eoin Devlin 1-2, Fionan Leahy 1-1, Sean Mescall 0-4, Mick Nugent 0-1, Sean Byrne 0-1.  

Thanks – Thanks to all who helped out on Fri 23 Aug at the Jun A championship match at the pitch – Des Nolan and Fionn Walsh who acted as umpires, Michelle Richardson, Irene Walsh and Lisa Jackson in the shop, Annmaire Nolan and Mick Mills on the gate, David Williamson on the scoreboard, Michael O’Leary and Paddy O’Donovan on parking, Michael Sargent for setting up the scoreboard and Breda Brophy.

Physio - Upstairs in the clubhouse this coming week on Wed 28 Aug at 7pm. Adults needing full physio appointments MUST go through Pat Molloy and Juvenile through Barry Cotter.

Ladies

Wicklow Ladies Adult Finals - Blessington GAA will host the Wicklow Ladies Adult Finals on Sat 7 Sep. Junior final 12pm, Intermediate final 2pm and Senior Final 4pm. There will be mini games at half-time. If you have never gone to a ladies’ final before now is the time to do it in our own home grounds.

Seniors – Ladies Senior Football Championship v St Patricks on Sat 31 Aug at 5.45pm. Huge week ahead for our ladies’ team who have qualified for the county semi-final. All support welcome to Roundwood next weekend. 

Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others – Well done to our Gaelic4Mothers team who played in the Liz Balfe Memorial Blitz in Leixlip on Sat 24 Aug. Fantastic day had by all, especially the fan club! Special well done to Aileen, Avril, Rosanna and Pia who played their first blitz. G4M team is looking for new members. If you fancy trying something new and meeting some new people, please come along and try it out on Tues evenings at 7pm.

U14’s –Next up is a home game v Clan na Gael on Thurs 29 Aug at 7pm.  

Juveniles

Leinster Blitz – Date for the diary. Blessington GAA will host our annual boys’ blitz for U8,9,10,11 on Sunday 8th September with 32 teams taking part from all over Leinster.

Rounders - Blessington GAA are looking at the possibility of starting Rounders teams for juvenile ages (boys & girls). It's an official GAA sport and even has own Féile. If any parent is interested in training and attending coaching, please contact Kevin Gilmore on 0872324197.

U17’s – Blessington GAA U17's beat Rathvilly in a friendly on Mon 19 Aug at home. Rathvilly have won every match so far in the championship. This great bunch of lads played fantastic on the night. Thanks to the U15 lads who had to stand in as some of the lads were playing in the hurling championship. A big thanks to Eoin for his commitment and a big welcome to Jack Gilligan and Jack Cotter to the training panel. Next fixture is away to St Nicolas on Mon 26 Aug at 7pm.

U15’s – U15 played round 3 of the championship on Wed the 21 Aug away V Ballinglen (Tinahely/Annacurra) and had a comprehensive win with a score of 4:12 to 3:06 to keep in the race for a final spot. A good squad of 21 players travelled down. Training Sun and Wed at 7pm. 
Next up away V St Pats on Wed Sept 4.

U13’s – Our U13 boys received their new training tops ahead of up-coming Championship games. Huge thank you to following - Ivan Smith (Toomey Audio Visual) and Matt Nolan (Panasonic) for their generous sponsorship of tops for lads. Also, thanks to Breda Brophy for ordering etc via O'Neill's. White Squad were at home to Tinahely on Sun 25 Aug in Round 2 of the Championship. No 1 to No 20 player gave it 100% throughout the game and that's all we can ask. Tinahely went home with a win but they certainly had to work hard for it. Well done to all the players and coach Ben for massive effort. Round 3 of Championship in two weeks in An Tochar v Eire Og so heads up and back to training Wednesday night. On Mon 26 Aug Blue squad are away to Eire Og in Round 1 of Div 1 Championship at 7pm. Best of luck lads.

U11’s – U11 white squad took on An Tochar at home on a horrible Wednesday night 21 Aug. We were a little bit slow to get going but our work rate and tackling shone through again and once we got into gear these super young footballers never looked back. Some of our score taking was a joy to watch in the second half and really pleased the coaches. Special mention for man of the match performance from Fiacha Duffy who led by example once again with another top performance. Blesso 64 - An Tochar 14. NKL away v Maynooth on Sat 31 Aug at 4.30pm.

U10’s – The U10’s started back in NKL action on Sat 24 Aug against a very good Sallins team. With numbers tight the lads dug deep and everyone stood up and did their job to come away with a hard- fought win in the end. Super performance.

U9’s – Away v Maynooth x 2 on Sat 31 Aug at 3.30pm.

U8’s - Our U8’s started back autumn NKL today away to St Edwards. We played 2 matches winning both and put in a brilliant display by all. Thank you to all parents who travelled.

U7’s - NKL Sat Aug 31 away v St Edwards x 2 at 2.30pm.

U7/U9 – Go Games in Blessington on Sat 31 Aug at 11am.

Academy – Saturday mornings at 10am.

Hurling

Minor Hurling – Michael Dwyers The Minors hurlers were at it again last night with another win in their Championship. They took on Bray Emmets and within minutes had the ball in the back of the net. Bray came back and pushed hard but never seemed to get on top and the game finished 5-12 to 2-8. Well done lads especially our club lads Jake O'Kelly, Oisin Brogan, Conor Gilligan and Austin Brennan. Next up is Rd 4 away v Carnew Emmets on Mon 2 Sep at 7pm.

U15’s – Michael Dwyers Championship Rd 4 v Carnew Emmets at 7pm.

U13’s – Michael Dwyers Div 1 Championship Rd 3 v Carnew Emmets on Mon 2 Sep at 7pm.

U13’s – Michael Dwyers Blue Div 2 Championship Rd 2 v Eire Og Greystones White at 7pm.
