Wicklow manager Eamonn Scallan admits he was impressed by the performance of some of the youngsters that he handed debuts to in last Sunday’s Christy Ring Cup win against Donegal.
Scallan handed debuts to six players in total as Wicklow had to dig deep to shake off the challenge of a dogged Donegal side.
They came away with the victory and Scallan was pleased with some aspects of their play, especially from the younger players, but added that they must do it all again against Down this weekend.
“Yeah they did,” was Scallan’s reply to the Wicklow People when the question about the debutants’ performances was put to him.
“They have to do it next week again and the week after, but for the day that’s in it they did their job and we were quite happy with them, that’s why we picked them. They’ll be hurling when I’m gone and that’s the way it is.”Tweet
