Kildare are set to be without a number of key players for their Leinster SFC opener against Wicklow at Netwatch Cullen Park on Saturday.

The Lilywhites will be keen to avoid a repeat of last year when they were dumped out of the provincial campaign in the opening round by Carlow.

However, they will certainly have to plan without captain Eoin Doyle, Paul Cribbin and Kevin Flynn who have picked up knocks in recent weeks.

Both Ben McCormack and Cathal McNally have returned to action, but it is felt that this game might come a bit too soon for them.

There are doubts surrounding the fitness of Jimmy Hyland, Kevin O’Callaghan, Fionn Dowling and Chris Healy.

Kildare definitely will not be taking Wicklow for granted, despite being overwhelming favourites to win the game.
