St Patricks club notes

April 15, 2019

Congratulations to all involved with our Senior hurlers who opened their Senior Hurling Championship campaign on Sunday in Aughrim. St Patrick's played with the wind advantage into the scoreboard end.

After a slow start St Patrick's eventually got the scoreboard working with some great scores from play from George O'Brien, Andy O'Brien, Christy Moorehouse and a monster from corner-back Andrew Conway. Despite St Patrick's dominance there failure to score goals kept Avondale in the hunt. The introduction of James Bonner O'Brien had a big bearing on the game and his two well taken points plus his winning of a close in free were hugely important to the win. Two excellent points from play from Andy O'Brien and Jim O'Brien sealed an important first SHC win for St. Patrick's. Young Christy Moorehouse did an excellent man marking job on the towering Eamonn Kearns. This was as expected a hard fought game to the end. St Patrick's will know that major improvement is needed to continue their winning way. Full Time Score: St. Patrick's O-18 Avondale 1-11

Team: E. O'Mahony, Andrew Conway )0-01), John Connors, Dale Quinn, Michael Connors, Gerry Connors,

On Thursday our Senior footballers made the short to Rathnew to take on our neighbours in the Division 1 league. In an entertaining game the two teams entered the dressing rooms level at halftime. HT score in Rathnew 0-05 St. Patricks 0-05. Rathnew started the second brightly with St. Patrick's clawing back into the game. A trade mark Rathnew goal proved decisive in the end with the full time score: Rathnew 1-10 St. Patricks 0-12
