St Patricks club notes

April 08, 2019

Well done to Eoin Lawlor one of our U13s who won the County Cumann na mbunscoil skills competition in Ballinakill on Wednesday. Eoin will get to play in Croke Park on All Ireland semi final day later in the summer. Many thanks to Mr Cuddihy and Peadar DeHora for all the encouragement and coaching to all our players at St. Pats NS.

Hard luck to all involved with our brilliant Wicklow Ladies team who were unable to secure a semi final berth with Sunday’s loss to Longford but what a campaign it has been to only be denied a semi-final spot by a single point in the table in their first year promoted to Division 3. Everyone in St Pats wishes County Captain Niamh McGettigan a speedy recovery from what looked like a fairly nasty injury. Well done to Megan Dunne who started Sunday's game in goal for her National League debut. Well done to all the St Pats representatives on an excellent league campaign: Captain Niamh McGettigan Sarah Delahunt, Clodagh Fox, Kate Hennessy, Saoirse O’Reilly, Megan Dunne and Erynn O'Brien

On Sunday morning St Patrick's County Senior football champions welcomed the County Intermediate Championship winners to Dunbur for their Division 1 clash. Half time: St Patrick's 0-09 Tinahely 1-02 Full time: St. Patrick's 1-11 Tinahely 3-05 a draw

Team: Colm Byrne, Wayne Doyle, Shane Murley, Paddy O'Keane, John Crowe, Ciaran Doyle, Aidan Dunne, Dean Healy, Johnny Delahunt, Ciaran McGettigan, Padge McWalter, Paul O'Brien, Donal Fitzgerald, Stephen Duffy, Tommy Kelly, Conor O'Brien and Matthew Traynor

Scorers: Stephen Duffy 0-04 (2f), Donal Fitzgerald 1-01, Paul O'Brien 0-02, Padge McWalter, Johnny Delahunt, Tommy Kelly and Ciaran McGettigan 0-01 each

Well done to all involved with our Division 3 footballers who travelled over the mountains on Saturday afternoon to take on Blessington. Jack Dunne scored a goal at the death to give the lads a well deserved draw. Full time: Blessington 2-11 St Patrick's 3-08

Scorers: Conor O'Brien 2-01, Jack Dunne 1-00, Jordan Pettigrew 0-04, James Kavanagh 0-03

Everyone in St Patrick's wish a speedy recovery to James Kavanagh who broke his collarbone.

Our U15 footballers travelled to play Ballinglen in Annacurra on Wednesday night. Both teams played good football in tough conditions with heavy rain and wind. Ballinglen put early scores on the board and maintained their lead throughout the game. With five minutes to play Pats had the score down to a two point margin, however a late Ballinglen rally scoring a goal and a point saw them run out deserving winners. Well done to all the St Pats players that traveled and played.

Big well done to our senior ladies who travelled to Lucan Sarsfields on Wednesday night. In division 2 after winning Division 3 last year they knew they would need to work hard, and they didn’t disappoint. They led at half time 2-08 to 2-02. In the second half their opponents only managed to score a single point with the girls dominating and scoring 2-08 to leave the full time score 4-16 to 2-03. Well done ladies. Big shout out to Holly McSorley on making her debut for the senior ladies tonight and putting in a strong performance.
