Newtown Club Notes

Congratulations to Newtown gent Jim O' Riordan, who received the Pat Trainer Lifetime Achievement and commitment to the promotion of Gaelic games in our primary schools at the Cornmarket Cumann na mBunscol National Awards Night in Sligo on Friday 8th March. Well done Jim on a well deserved award.Congratulations also to Kilcoole Primary School who picked up 2 awards on the night.  

 

Newtown senior men had a disappointing result against Avondale on Friday night last in a match marked by Newtown errors. Newtown have a young team who have been training well at each training session and we hope to reap the rewards of our training on the pitch in future games.,

 

Under 11 Boys training continues on the pitch on Wednesday night @6.30-7.30pm. Old and new players always welcome, players must be born in either 2008 or 2009. Any inquiries re U11s please contact Peter 0877633089 or Ruari 0879517531

 

Newtowns very successful nursery will be starting back every Saturday morning from April. This will be an hour long fun packed programme for children from aged 3 that helps them learn the fundamental movements and basic GAA skills.

The Sean McShane memorial golf classic is scheduled for Sunday 3rd June, proceeds will be split between Newtown GAA and Newtown centre for autism. Year on year this is a hugely popular and great day out so get your name in early, €400 for team of 4 or tee sponsorship at €100. Contact Dominic Leech, Ally Taylor or John McShane. 

 

Weekly lotto takes place every Monday evening, tickets can be purchased from any committee member or from local shops at cost of €2 each, all proceeds go to support the club. There was no winner last week which means this week’s jackpot is an even €5k, numbers drawn were   10 15 23 24. One lucky winner took home €200 after matching 3 numbers.
