Top Oil Bro. Bosco Cup - Well done to our Blessington GAA lads - Conall O'Gallchobhair, Kevin Quinn and Ethan Cotter who played with Naas CBS in Bosco in Hawkfield on Sat 16 Feb. FULL TIME Wicklow 4-07 Offaly 0-10.

Leinster schools - Craig Maguire was playing with Wicklow schools v Offaly schools in 1/4 final of Leinster in Blanchardstown. Wicklow march on to the Leinster A sei-final after a 4-07 to 0-09 victory.

Wicklow Ladies – Next up is home v Kildare on Sat 23 Feb.

 

Seniors –Our senior team played their second match in the League at home on Sun 17 Feb against AGB. The lads were playing much better than the week before they settled in nice and early and had a nice lead at HT - 2.07 to 0.5 with the lads working some very good scores. If ever there was a case for a game of two halves this was one of them with AGB hitting three unanswered points, it took us 10 minutes before we got on the scoreboard in the second half. With about 12 minutes to go we were 9 points up and looked home and dry. In fairness to AGB they clawed us back to eventually level the game at 3-11 apiece. Still early days for this team, but it was a game we let slip and should have won. Scorers - Mikey O’Connor 1-04, Jordan Nolan 1-01, Curtis Geraghty 1-01, Patrick O’Connor 0-1, Barry Murphy 0-1, Stephen Carroll 0-1, Eoin Keogh 0-1, Adam Boland 0-1. Next up Hollywood away on Sun 24 at 11am.

 

Div 3 – Kicks off on Sat 23 Feb at 3pm v Kilbride Lacken. Venue TBC. Good luck to team and management.

 

Senior Ladies – The ladies took part in the Paidi Ó’Se tournament at the weekend 15 – 17 Feb. Report next week.

 

Club Coach of the Year Award – Congrats to Jess Brennan who was recently awarded the Cub Coach of the Year 2018 will receive her award at a ceremony in Croke Park on Fri 22 Feb 2018. Well done Jess, well deserved. You are a credit to your club.

Scor Sinsear – Will not be held in Blessington this year. It has been decided that it will now take place on Fri 22 Feb in Ballinakill. No further details to date. This is the adult Scor (over 17) and the table quiz will also be held on the night as well. Looking for any solo singers, story tellers, ballad groups and set dancers to take on the challenge. U15’s – U15's played a very strong Clane team away in a friendly on Sun 17 Feb. With only 15 players available Blessington played very strong in the first half and went in ahead on 2 points. The game was close-up until the last 10 mins and Clane got the upper hand with fresh players. In the end scoring a couple of goals to win well.  A good performance for most of the game considering the number of players available on the day and good preparation for the final group game V Kill in the Crossborder league on the 1 Mar. Training Tuesday evening 7 pm & Sunday 6pm. Academy – Academy for boys and girls aged 4 to 6 will be back on Sat 2 Mar at 10am on the Astro. The is no charge for the first couple of weeks so come along with the kids to try it out. Further info from Graham 0876393125.

 

Wicklow Cul Camps 2018 – www.wicklowculcamps.gaa.ie from 1 Mar 18. Only 200 places for football camp (8 July) and 150 for the hurling camp (22 July).

 

Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others – The ladies will have an open morning on Sat 9 March at 10am up at the pitch. Come along for a cuppa and a chat.
