St Patrick’s GAA will hold the 2018 Annual General Meeting in the Clubhouse on Thursday November 29th at 8p.m.

Agenda:

•               Approval of 2017 AGM minutes

•               Secretary’s Report

•               Treasurer’s Report

•               Chairman’s Address

•               Election of 2019 Executive Committee members

•               Motions

All Nominations for the 2019 Executive Committee and Motions to be put before the AGM must be sent to the undersigned on or before Thursday 8th November 2018 signed by Proposers and Seconders.

Members will be circulated with AGM documentation (including submitted Nominations and Motions) prior to the AGM.

Only Full members who have fully paid their subscription are entitled to attend the AGM.

Only members who fully paid their subscription on or before 31/3/18 will be entitled to vote at the AGM.

Individuals interested in managing adult playing teams for 2019 should submit their name and management team proposals to the Secretary prior to the AGM. Management teams will be appointed by the Executive Committee.

On Sunday morning we welcomed Rathnew to Dunbur for the Wicklow U20 football B championship semi-final. St. Patricks started well with Jack Dunne opening the scoring with a goal. Both teams upped the intensity of the game and went in at half time level: St. Patricks 1-05 Rathnew 1-05. Rathnew opened the scoring in the second half with St Pats drawing level with a goal from Luca Rampersaud and a free from Jack Dunne. Unfortunately Rathnew held on at the end to win by the narrowest of margins – Full Time: St. Patricks 2-07 Rathnew 2-08. Rathnew go on to play Eire Og Greystones in the final.

This brings the curtain down on the playing fields for 2018, Thank you to all the players, parents and supporters for an exciting year in the history of St. Patricks.

All in St Patricks wish referee John Keenan and Ciaran Coffey a full recovery from a severe accidental clash of heads at the beginning of the second half when they were attended to by medics and personnel from both clubs.

 

An excerpt from the Leather Echo: In 1975 St. Patrick’s won a football title that was never won before and may never be won again (Until this year). There was an Under-20 football championship that year and they beat Rathnew in the final in Ashford.

Congratulations to all involved with the U9 who had their presentation night on Friday in the Clubhouse. The Miley Cup was the guest of honour with the Senior Lads helping out with the presentation.

 

St Patrick's Juvenile section held their AGM on Thursday 22nd November at 8pm in St Patrick's GAA Club House. Alan Lawlor opened the meeting. There was a frank and open discussion in respect of all age groups from Nursery to U17’s. The following were returned for ratification at the St Patrick’s AGM: Chairperson: Alan Lawlor, Secretary: Brian Gleeson, Treasurer: Brian Finnegan, Football Officer: Daragh McEvoy, Hurling Officer: Paddy Culleton and Committee Member: Gerry Phelan

 

Big thank you to Fachtna Whittle Whistlers Bar Wicklow for kindly sponsoring the ladies adult teams a fab 3 course meal in Wicklow Gaol on Saturday night. A great night was had by all to finish off a successful season

 

After the end of a successful season for the senior football team, the players and management would like to take the opportunity to thank their sponsors for their support and generosity during the year.  It was very much appreciated and helped play a part in the team winning both the championship and league cup.  So a big thank you to the following:

Wicklow GAA Annual County Convention will be held on Monday 10th December at 7pm sharp in County Buildings, Joule Park Aughrim

 

Garden County Award Night will be held on Saturday 19th January 2019 in The Arklow Bay Hotel.

Please note every Wednesday from November 7th for the next 6 weeks the St. Patrick’s Club Gym is unavailable from 7:45-9:15pm due to the County U15 lads using the gym.

 

Wicklow GAA Coaching and Games Development have a Foundation Football course coming up this month. The course is open to anyone interested in getting involved in coaching. A coaching qualification is mandatory for anyone who wants to coach in 2019.

Sean Cox fundraiser: Meath football manager Andy McEntee is looking forward to next month's challenge against Dublin, joking that even a game of marbles between the rival counties would be competitive.

The anticipated sell-out encounter at Navan's Pairc Tailteann will take place on December 16 with all gate receipts going to the Sean Cox fund. McEntee is a club-mate of former St Peter's, Dunboyne chairman Cox who suffered serious injuries during an attack before a Champions League game involving Liverpool and Roma last April.
