U12 F NKL Final v Nass

Sat was finals day for the U12 football leagues in North Kildare. The division 3 league is based on a 10-match home and away format with the top 4 teams contesting Cup and Shield finals. The Blessington lads steadily improved during the year from a poor league start and with two recent notable wins versus Clane at home and Raheens away – secured a final spot via a home win versus Celbridge a couple of weeks back. The opposition on Sat was Nass – the only Div 3 team Blessington boys had yet to get the better of, After two tough encounters already in the league this year so far - but on a very wet Hawkfield centre of excellence Blessington really raised their game to lead at half time 4-2 to 3 pts – despite Naas taking the lead. Naas then stormed back into the match in the second half and it required some committed defending and a couple of critical scores for us to hold them off to win by 5pts. Frankie Kerr Gibbons accepted the trophy on behalf of the team after a deserved win where all the squad on the day contributed to a memorable mornings football. Thanks to all parents and players who made the early start to get over there and to Eamonn O’ Neill and Kevin Gilmore for their help on the pre-match and line.

U11’s –All 3 teams finals in Ballinakill on Sat Oct 13 Oct were cancelled due to the weather conditions. Games will be played on 20 Oct instead at 10.00am. Blue team v Dunlavin, White v Kiltegan and Red v Coolkenno.

Allen Cup – Final was held in Dunlavin on Sun 14 Oct Blessington v Baltinglass. Blessington led at half time 0-6 to 0-4 in a very competitive match. Blesso won by 1 pt kicked in the last 30 seconds of the game. Well done to team and management.
