St Patricks club notes

October 01, 2018

Congratulations to Casey O’Brien and all involved with our Senior footballers who overcame Hollywood in the Senior Championship semi-final on Sunday in Aughrim. In a dry Aughrim with a slight breeze the lads played flowing football in the first half to earn the right to be ahead at Half time St Patrick’s: 1-8 Hollywood: 0-2. The second half playing into the Rednagh Road end the lads never let up and were deserving winners with the Full time scoreline: St Patrick’s: 3-13 Hollywood: 1-4. Well done lads an excellent result. The lads will now meet our neighbours Rathnew in the County Final on Sunday October 14th.

It was not be for our U17 footballers who played the championship semi-final on Monday night in Ballinakill against St. Kevins. The lads never really got going and kept pushing until the end. In a nip and tuck first half the lads were unlucky to be down by 3 points with a fortuitous goal leaving the half time score: St. Pats 0-06 St. Kevins 1-06. In the second half, the lads never gave up but good defending by St Kevins kept the lads out. At full time the scoreline was: St. Patricks 1-08 St Kevins 1-13. Congratulations to St. Kevins, we wish them well in the final against Blessington who overcame Bray Emmets in the other semi-final. Hard luck to all the players involved in the U17 squad who have worked extremely hard this year, but sport can be cruel.
Thank you to all the supporters who travelled to Ballinakill, the support is very much appreciated by the players and management.
