June 16, 2018

Kildare had no fuss against Wicklow in the Leinster U20FC this afternoon

Kildare 3-17

Wicklow 0-4

Kildare copperfastened second place in Group 2 and place in the Leinster U20FC quarter-finals after hammering Wicklow by 22 points in Newbridge.

Wicklow scored the first two points, but it was all Kildare after that with nine points from Jimmy Hyland and a goal from Brian McLoughlin in the 27th minute helping them to a 1-11 to 0-2 interval lead.

Hyland continued to shoot the lights out in the second half and Padraig Nash raised green flags in the 42nd and 60th minutes as the Lilywhites strolled to victory.

The quarter-final line up will be finalised tomorrow after the clash of Offaly and Louth in Tullamore, with Kildare and Westmeath assured of their places. Dublin and Meath have qualified directly for the semi-finals. The two quarter-finals will be played on the weekend of June 22/23, with the semi-finals down for decision on June 30.
