The Late Tommy Browne
The remains of GAA stalwart Tommy Browne will be laid to rest tomorrow, following a fatal heart attack on Monday night.
Friends and family members are comforting his devastated children, two of whom were at the scene when he died. The 73-year-old lost his life after he had a heart attack in Clongeen while watching a ladies' football match between Clonee and Clongeen.
Two of his daughters were at the pitch when he suffered the heart attack.
Mr Browne, from Clonee, was deeply involved with sport, being the President of Wexford Ladies Football Board, and President and Chairman of the Clonee club.
Family friend Michael O'Neill expressed his sorrow at the loss of his friend: 'I was chatting to him that day and there wasn't a bother on him, he was flying about as usual.
'He was well loved by everyone who knew him, I don't think you could have picked a better place for him to go. Since he lost his wife Celia two years ago he has lived for GAA games and loved watching the girls play, he was so passionate about sport.'
'He had cancer for the last seven or eight years so it is a shock that a heart attack got him in the end,' added Mr O'Neill.
A doctor and nurse, who were both at the scene, tried to revive Mr. Browne until the ambulance arrived, but he was pronounced dead when he reached the hospital.
Thomas is suvived by his nine children, Thomas, Paul, Noel, John, Mary, Helen, Ann, Tina and Adele.
