Banville, David

July 20, 2007
The Late David Banville The Community of Camross and people all across County Wexford were shocked and deeply saddened by the death of David Banville. David (27) passed away at his home in Camross. He is survived by his heartbroken parents Denis and Breda and younger sister Ann Marie. David was well-known throughout Wexford through his involvement with Taghmon-Camross G.A.A. Club. Though he played both codes, it was as a footballer that David excelled. A talented goalkeeper, he provided a solid last line of defence for many Taghmon-Camross teams over the years. David's excellent performances between the sticks saw him called into the Wexford under-21 football squad in 2000 when he proudly represented his county. He left Camross in 2001 and went to live and work in Boston. However, David continued to play football there and won an All-Star in 2003 as his Galway team captured the New England Intermediate Football Championship. David returned home in 2004 and once again lined out with his local club. He will be sadly missed by all in the Taghmon-Camross club, as a good player, but more so as a good friend. The many young men whom he grew up with and played football with formed a Guard of Honour at his funeral. A keen sportsman, David was also involved with Taghmon United and Taghmon Golf Society. Educated at Caroreigh National School and Adamstown Vocational School, David, like his father, was gifted with his hands and shared his skill and love for carpentry. He worked as a carpenter and roofer both at home and abroad and was very good at his job. David was a happy-go-lucky and easy-going fella who enjoyed life and loved a good night out with his friends. He was very popular young man who had touched the hearts of many people before his untimely death. The high esteem in which he was held was reflected by the huge number of people that attended his Requiem Mass at St. Garvan's Church, Caroreigh on Monday David was laid to rest in Kilgarvan Cemetery. He will be sadly missed by his loving parents Denis and Breda, his sister Ann Marie, his grandmother Mary, uncles, aunts-in-law, cousins, relatives and a wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.
