The late Patricia Kinsella
The parish of Our Lady' s Island was shocked beyond belief on hearing of the death of Patricia Kinsella, Nineteenacre, at Wexford General Hospital following a short illness. Patricia had been in a good health up to a short time before her death.
Aged forty-four, Trish, as she was known to a host of friends, was a native of Blackwater parish, being the former Patricia O'Toole.
She was extremely popular, a kind neighbour who was always ready to help any cause, but it was in the GAA and Camogie circles that she really excelled, as a trojan worker with the underage players, the school children and a backstage worker with the local Tops of the Town group.
She was noted for transporting young Coiste na nOg, and Camogie players all over county Wexford.
Her home in Nineteenacre was always a place of welcome, especially for the children of the area who loved her dearly. Trish made friends easily, working as a staff member in Kelly's Hotel, Carne Lobster Pot and Carne Holiday Centre where she was held in very high esteem.
Much sympathy is extended to her husband William, sons Brendan, Liam, Alan, Eoin. Colm, daughter Triona, mother Annie O'Toole, mother in law Peg Kinsella, brothers Patrick, John, Raymond, Dermot, Frank, Joe and extended family.
Her remains were removed from her home to Our Lady's Island Church were they were received by Rev. Colm Murphy. It was one of the largest crowds ever seen in the parish with hundreds failing to gain admission to the church. Her funeral was the largest seen in the parish for years and testified the esteem in which Trish and her family are held in. The attendance included Minister John Browne, Deputy Liam Twomey, TD., Councillor Lisa McDonald and Councillor Bernard Crosbie, from Gorey.
Rev. Colm Murphy Adm., was chief celebrant and had as concelebrants Rev. Hugh O'Byrne, PP, Blackwater and Rev. Aodhan Marken, St Peter's College. Rev. Jim Butler, CC., Murrintown was also present.
The readings were taken by Mary O'Leary, cousin and Mary Beatty, sister in law. Prayers of the Faithful by Niamh Beatty, Kevin O'Toole, Joanne O'Toole, Stephen O'Leary. The gifts were taken to the altar by her five sons and her daughter.
Fr Murphy paid glowing tributes to the young mother and extended the sympathy of the community to the Kinsella and O'Toole families and asked for the prayers of everyone for the bereaved family.
Moving Irish airs were played during the ceremony by Brendan Wickham and Fintan Cleary and as the coffin was carried shoulder high by her six brothers to the strains of Boolavogue, even grown men wept openly.
Our Lady's Island hurling team carrying their jersey's, the local Camogie girls, Coiste na nOg players and the children of Scoil Mhuire, Broadway formed guards of honour beside the hearse on its way to the cemetery.
Family friend and neighbour, Leo Carthy, in a moving graveside tribute recalled the life of a great community woman, a kind neighbour and a true Gael. Fr Colm Murphy officiated at the graveside.
