The late Emma Conroy
The second oldest of four daughters born to Alan and Mary Conroy of Pearse Road in Enniscorthy, Emma was aged just 17 when the terrible accident occurred. She died in the collision along with her boyfriend Conor and their baby Chloe.
Emma was all that a pretty young woman of her age should be - bubbly, friendly and full of the joys of life. She loved her music and her social activities.
In a few weeks she was due to have collected her Leaving Certificate results and chosen her career path. Among those in the congregation at the funeral mass were many of her former school mates from Colaiste Bride in Enniscorthy, among whom she was always a popular figure.
A guard of honour was provided by the Rapparees camogie club for whom she performed as an accomplished defender on various underage teams.
She made a major contribution to the Rapps in the Feile campaigns of 1998 and 1999. Team sport went on the back burner for Emma in recent times as she assumed the responsibility of being a mother.
Chloe was born on March 4 and was at the centre of an extensive network of loving support. Emma had the active assistance of the family and friends as he set about looking after her baby along with boyfriend Conor.
Baby Chloe was baptised last April at St Josephs church in Marshalstown. She was aged four and a half months when a trip to see a doctor in Gorey ended in such horrific circumstances on the road in Scarawalsh.
Emma is survived by loving parents Alan and Mary, sisters Andrea, Triona and Rachael, grandparents Dan and Joan Conroy and John and Margaret Byrne, along with other family members and numerous friends.
