Sinnott, Patrick

Patrick Sinnott It was with great sadness that the news of the death of Wexford native Patrick (Paddy) Sinnott was received in the parish of St. Patrick's and St. Bridget's, Limerick city. Paddy, from 12 Wellfield, Garryowen, passed away peacefully in Limerick Regional Hospital on Sunday, August 28. Paddy, who previously lived at Kilmannon, Cleariestown, was the eldest son of Jack and Mary Sinnott from Gurtins, Cleariestown. He was a brother to Mart, Madge, Nora, Bernie, the late Nuala and Rose, Sr. Philomena, Stella Vera, Eamon and John. Paddy joined the Irish Army in June 1945. He decided to make the army his career and completed 31 years of service in June 1976. He was a lover of all sports and was a keen follower of the Wexford hurlers. Paddy had a particular fondness of handball, which he played with some distinction, becoming Southern Command Champion in his early days in the army. A most amusing man, he was hugely popular in the community. His wit and sense of humour endeared all who knew him. Paddy was a highly respected and devoted family man. Who will be sadly missed by his wife Nancy, his sons, T.J. Pat, Matt, Martin and Michael, his daughters Marie, Anne, Collette, his sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchild Eoin, nieces and nephews. The high esteem in which Paddy was held was reflected in the very large attendance at his Requiem Mass. The mass was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Irvine P.P. In St. Bridget's Church, Limerick City and afterwards in Mount St. Oliver Cemetery, Limerick. He will be dearly missed by all his family and extended family. May he rest in peace.
