Finn, Edward

November 23, 2005
The Late Edward Finn Killurin native Edward Finn passed away peacefully at his residence. Described as a man 'who lived his life with strength, courage and dignity', Edward died on November 18. Born into a farming family in Killinure in 1928, Edward was the son of the late William and Annie Finn. When he was seven years old, the entire family moved to Blackhall, Killurin, where they continued to farm. As a young boy, Eddie, as he was better known, attended Glynn School, where he developed a passion for many sports, including rowing and football, the latter of which he competed countywide with GAA Clubs Bulgan and Tomcool. A devoted farmer, Eddie loved the land and was recognised by Teagasc as a Master Farmer. Eddie had a great interest in current affairs, and was a founding member of the Glynn branch of Fine Gael. A man of strong faith, Eddie was a kind neighbour who was always willing to help others. Beloved husband to Maura, to whom he married 44 years ago, Eddie was devoted, caring, and loving family man. The huge number which attended his funeral ceremony in St Laurence O'Toole Church in Glynn on Sunday, November 20, celebrated by Fr Pat Stafford and Fr Jim Finn, displayed the very high esteem in which Eddie was held. Eddie will be sadly missed by his loving family, including his wife, Maura, daughters, Aine, Geraldine, Emer, sons, Brendan and Michael, grandchildren Ruth, Colm, fionn, Eabhs, brothers, Tom, and Pat and sister, Sr Bernardine, and his many other relatives and friends.
