Liam Dunne has confirmed that Wexford hurler Andrew Shore will be unavailable for the remainder of 2016.

Shore has sustained a cruciate ligament injury which rules him out of action for the entire championship. The news comes as a huge blow for the Model County, who open their Leinster SHC campaign against Dublin in Croke Park later this month:

"Andrew did the damage when playing for Parnells in the Dublin championship and that means that he's going to be out injured for in the region of ten months," the disappointed Purple & Gold manager told The Irish Daily Mirror.

"Obviously, it's a huge blow to our prospects for the match against Dublin as Andrew is very much a key player for us and his considerable experience is a major asset for us.

"Last year, Andrew went back to his home club, Davidstown, after being with Parnells for a year, but it suited him to go back to Parnells at the start of the year.

"Andrew has certainly been very unlucky with injuries, as when playing in last year's county junior final for Davidstown against St Martin's he got a serious bang on the chest bone and that kept him out for a number of months."
