Laffan, Michael

The death has taken place of Michael (Mickey) Laffan Snr., a former chairman of Glynn Barntown GAA club. Mr Laffan, the father of Garry Laffan, died at his home, Highfields, Killurin, on Monday. His death, at the age of 70, has come as a massive shock to everyone in the club and in the wider community in Barntown. The late Michael is the loving husband of Marie and father of Martin, Michael Jnr, Garry, Paul, Elizabeth, Marie Jnr and Louise.

Friends described him as an institution and man steeped in the history of Glynn Barntown as is his family. 'He was a lifelong member of the club and was Junior hurling manager in 1976 which was the first adult championship win in 42 years' said former chairman Bobby Goff.

'He was also manager of the championship winning Intermediate team in 1987, which was the first team to reach Senior status in more than 50 years.'
His passing is deeply regretted by his loving wife, sons, daughters, brothers James and Garry, sons-in-law, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, garndchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Reposing at Kearney's Funeral Home, Selskar from 12 noon today (Tuesday) with removal at 7pm on Wednesday to St Lawrence's Church, Glynn. His funeral mass is at 11am on Thursday with burial afterwards in Glynn Cemetery. Donations if desired to Enniscorthy Workshop.
