Murphy, George

The recent death of Mr George Murphy, Kilmacoe, Curracloe caused deep sadness to his family and friends.
George (80) passed away at home on December 14 in the care of his family following a long illness.
In a second bereavement for the family, his sister Anna died in London on January 10.

George is survived by his loving wife Mary (nee O'Leary); his sons Michael (Australia), John (Canada) and George; his daughter Elizabeth (Manchester); his grandchildren Jack and Ben; his daughters-in-law Michelle and Cassie; his son-in-law Damien; his brother Mick (Wales); his sister Margaret (Enniscorthy) and his extended family and friends.

George, a son of the late Michael and Annie Murphy of Coolrainey, Curracloe was predeceased by his brother Andy.
A month after George died his sister Anna passed away in London.
George's wife Mary and son George travelled with other family members to attend her funeral in the UK.
George began his working life in farming before obtaining employment in the outdoor section of Wexford County Council.
He worked with the locl authority for about 25 years up to his retirement.

One of his hobbies was keeping greyhounds, an interest he and his brother Andy developed when they were young.
He raced greyhounds at the track in Enniscorthy and in Shelbourne Park in Dublin, enjoying a number of successes down through the years with Coolrainey Chick being one of his later prodigies.

George loved watching all kinds of sport from football and hurling to soccer, darts and snooker.
He and Andy played handball in their younger days and competed in a number of tournaments.
George loved the beach in Curracloe and went for a swim every day during the summer when he was well into his sixties.
His months mind Mass will take place in Curracloe church on Saturday, January 28 at 7pm
