Wexford manager Paul Galvin was impressed with his side's character but not with the quality of football on show during Saturday's 2-3 to 0-8 victory over Waterford.
Dreadful weather conditions at Fraher Field meant it was a night for rolling the sleeves up and getting stuck in.
"Hard to really call it football," the drenched former Kerry star told the Irish Examiner afterwards.
"Possession being spilled, stuff on the ground... there wasn't a lot of football played, but the effort, the desire, the commitment from both sets of players was outstanding.
"Certainly, by the end of the game, it (the pitch) wasn't playable. At the start of the game, it was just about playable, but as it wore on it probably wasn't (playable).
"By the end, it was totally unplayable stuff, but it's done, we have the points and we're happy."
