Castletown out to end Wexford's 15-year drought

October 26, 2019

Castletown will represent Wexford in this year's Leinster club senior football championship.

No Wexford team has won a game in the Leinster club senior football championship in 15 years.

Castletown will be hoping to end the county's drought in the competition tomorrow when they face Carlow champions Eire Og at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Model County sides have been on the receiving end of some tough beatings on the provincial senior stage in recent years.

Twelve months ago, Shelmaliers only managed to score 1-2 against Dunboyne while Gusserane O'Rahilly's shipped a heavy 33-point loss to Rhode in 2016.

But Castletown will be confident of bucking the trend in Carlow after their impressive 3-16 to 2-10 dismantling of Gusserane in the county final earlier this month.

Timmy Walsh's men can take inspiration from their last foray into Leinster which was in 2010 when they ran Skryne close (0-12 to 0-10) in Navan.
