Wexford's Lee Chin with Brendan Maher of Tipperary

Brendan Maher says Tipperary were never going to throw in the towel during Sunday’s epic All-Ireland SHC semi-final victory over Wexford.

The Premier County faced into the mother of all uphill battles when Lee Chin’s goal left them five points adrift and also a man down following the dismissal of John McGrath, but they fought back magnificently to secure a wonderful two-point victory at Croke Park.

“We didn’t panic and we always felt like we had a grasp of it and had a chance, despite going down to 14 men,” Borris-Ileigh clubman Maher told The Irish Mirror.

“It didn’t really feel like this isn’t possible so we just said that we wouldn’t panic and stay going and stay going until the final whistle. We said that we weren’t going to stop until we were told to stop.”
