Declan Byrne says Louth will do everything in their power to set up a Leinster SFC quarter-final date with Dublin.

The prize awaiting the winners of Sunday’s first-round clash with Wexford at Wexford Park is a glamorous May 25th showdown with the reigning provincial and All-Ireland champions.

“Everyone is chomping at the bit. There is a big incentive there,” the St Mochtas clubman told The Argus. “The winners play Dublin and you always want to pit yourself against the best.

“We’ll be doing our damnedest to try and get a date with the Dubs. We’ve had many a battle [with Wexford] in the past and probably didn’t come out on top too often.

“Coming from Division Four, they probably have had a poor enough season so far, with three wins, but it is going to be difficult. We are going to have to be right up to our normal levels to get the win.”
