Limerick came with a storming finish to book a place in the final of the Aer Lingus Fenway Hurling Classic after an exciting encounter.

Three players were sent off and several more picked up two-minute sin-binnings as both sides battled to reach the final.

Wexford finished the opening half strongly to lead by 32-25 in the second semi-final of the Aer Lingus Fenway Hurling Classic.

Five-pointers from Kevin Foley and Jack O’Connor helped Wexford lead by 13-6 midway through the opening half.

Wexford goalkeeper Mark Fanning was in superb form but Graeme Mulcahy finally hit a five-pointer and Pat Ryan did likewise to lead by 25-24 three minutes from the break.

But Jack O’Connor and Harry Kehoe found the net for Wexford before the break to lead by 32-25 when they turned around.

The feisty nature of the exchanges saw Wexford’s Aidan Nolan sent off and Limerick’s Declan Hannon and Wexford’s Kevin Foley sin-binned after a melee. Then Limerick’s David Reidy was sent off shortly afterwards, while later in the game Kyle Hayes also got his marching orders.

Scores from Lee Chin and Paul Morris pushed Wexford 42-33 ahead going into the final quarter.

But the All-Ireland champions came good with Cian Lynch finding the net before Aaron Gillane edged them in front in the dying seconds and Diarmuid Byrnes sealed the win to advance to the final against Cork.
