Wexford's Rory O'Connor admits that he faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday's All-Ireland U21 semi-final against Cork at Nowlan Park.

O'Connor has been struggling with a knee injury all year, but injured his other knee while training with his club a couple of weeks ago.

A scan revealed that the player needs about six weeks rest, but the St Martin's clubman is keen to line out this weekend.

"I'm hopeful that everything will go well," was O'Connor's response to the Wexford People when asked about his availability for the game.

It is believed that O'Connor will have a fitness test on the knee on Thursday night and if he feels any reaction to that he will be ruled out of the game.

Another injury doubt for the Wexford under-21s is Joey O'Connor, Rory's cousin, who is also struggling to shake off a knee injury.
