The mind games have begun ahead of next weekend's crucial Leinster SHC clash between Wexford and Kilkenny with Davy Fitzgerald insisting that the Cats are warm favourites to progress to a provincial final showdown with Galway.

"If I was a betting man now and I was going to that game, I would put my house on Kilkenny. You'd never know, we might pull a performance. We'll stick out another 15 and see what the craic is," the Wexford manager said after his side were well beaten by Galway on Saturday evening.

Wexford beat Dublin and Offaly in their first two games in the new round-robin series, but Fitzgerald fears the demands of playing four weekends in-a-row is now beginning to take its toll.

"I'm not pointing this out just now. I said it to you from day one that we would struggle in games three and four and that's why I wanted our business done early if we could," he added.
