Westmeath GAA Head Of Operations

Interesting to see this advertised: https://www.jobs.ie/ApplyForJob.aspx?Id=1788670

Unusual that I haven't seen anything about this on the website or otherwise, until today, however the deadline to apply is in less than in 48 hours.

Position filled by Patrick Doherty, seems a decent appointment based on his previous roles

Aren't Leinster GAA or HQ paying his salary?

Best of luck to him. A full time administrator was badly needed for many years.

I'm curious as to which staff are funded by HQ/Leinster and Westmeath itself. Is there anywhere online to see a list of staff associated with Westmeath GAA.

I am a bit surprised at this appointment as he had a good job and salary with croke park
It would be more appropriate to give it to someone that was allready on the present committee. As far as I know I think the bulk of his salary is paid by Leinster council and the rest by westmeath

There's enough nepotism going on in Westmeath gaa without that job being given to another insider.

Best of luck to him.
Would love to know where the hurling development money is being spent

Best of luck to Pat Doherty, this is a good appointment in my eyes.

Valley, you do realise Pat is a former PRO of the county board and a once candidate for county board chairman. In addition, his sister was (and may still be) on the county board? So perhaps you could classify him as an insider, could be great ammunition for your crusade.

You should get in touch with him with all your ideas to help hurling in the county.

well aware of that.
and if anyone wonders why hurling standards are slipping in the county you only have to start to look at who is paid to go into the schools coaching and all the money being wasted on doing hurling coaching in schools, where there is no chance of the kids playing with a hurling club

It is obvious you were not aware of this.

Sure write to the new Head of Operations with your genuine concerns. Didn't the role of development officer become vacant recently? Why don't you nominate yourself? If you have no club, myself or another contributor can arrange for you to be nominated.
