Crookedwood GAA Club Notes

July 24, 2017

Intermediate Hurling Championship

Crookedwood 1-23 Turin 0-17. This years championship started out with a hard fought win over neighbours Turin. The final scoreline does not reflect the true nature of the game and was a bit harsh on our opponents. Indeed, with seven minutes remaining, we were only two points to the good and a tight finish looked on the cards. But, thankfully we drove on in the final stages and ran out comfortable winners to record an all important first round win. A special mention to John Kiernan who made his championship debut and performed admirably. Team/Scorers; Alan O Mara, John Kiernan, Kevin Orme, Enda Murray, Eddie Nally, Shane McGovern (0-4) Johnny Nally, Ronan Scally, Brian McLoughlin (1-2), Noel Kiernan (0-1) Henry Reilly (0-1), Ian McGovern (0-1), D.Hyland, Noel Yourell (0-3), Barry O Mara (0-9). Subs; Kieran Yourell (0-2) for Scally, Damien Grifferty for E.Nally, Chris Gilbert for Noel Kiernan, Richie Crowley for Hyland.

There is now a mini-break from hurling championship as the football championship takes over for a few weeks, our next game is provisionally scheduled for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
