Minor champions

The Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's girls' minor team take pride of place this week after powering to a 5-13 to 2-8 victory over Loughnavalley in their delayed 2016 county final at The Downs on Sunday.

The team gave retiring mentors Mickey Kelly and Nicky McCormack the perfect parting gift after their many years of dedication and hard work with the underage set-up. This was the club's fifth minor championship win in-a-row and fellow mentors Noel Robbins, Myra Pettit and Eimear Fox also deserve praise for their role in the success.

AGM

Following hot on the heels of the minor success is the Kilbeggan/St. Joseph's girls' AGM next Sunday, January 29 at 7pm in the Streamstown Community Centre. All parents of players are requested to attend this important meeting.

New ladies team management

Best of luck to our new intermediate ladies football management team of Keith Gorry, Philip Kiernan and Bernie Barrett. Keith, who has also recently taken up the role of joint-treasurer in the club, met the players for the first time last Saturday to outline his plans for the coming season.

Lotto

Last week's lucky numbers were 2, 4, 22 and 28. Draw winners only - Margaret Gorry and Moss Keegan. Next Saturday's draw takes place in McNamara's when the jackpot will be €5,300.

Referees' course

The late John Barrett

Sympathy is extended to Thomas and Jennifer Barrett on the death of their grandfather John, late of Ballina, Co. Mayo, at Galway University Hospital last weekend. Jennifer bravely lined out in the aforementioned girls' minor final on Sunday.
