Westmeath manager Pat Flanagan believes not letting the Dubs dictate the pace of the game is imperative.

The Lake County head for Croke Park on Saturday week to take on Dublin in the Leinster SFC quarterfinal and they go into the match as massive underdogs.

Westmeath saw off the challenge of Carlow last weekend, but they will need to up their performance ten fold if they are to trouble the Dubs.

Flanagan explained to the Westmeath Examiner that stopping the defending Leinster champions from dictating the pace of the game was their main aim.

"If we stay in the game and not let them dictate the pace, I think that's the biggest problem," said Flanagan.

"Dublin are inclined to dictate the pace and dictate how other teams operate. It's up to us to set out our stall and put our mark on the game. And if we do that we know that we can get scores.

"We got 3-15 against Carlow and scored heavily in some of our league games, We're quite capable of scoring but keeping Dublin at bay is going to be the big issue."
