We had senior football championship action from three provinces today.

The drama began at Breffni Park at 2pm when Cavan hosted Armagh in the preliminary round of the Ulster SFC.

Westmeath had home advantage against Carlow in the Leinster SFC at 3:30 and holders Mayo travelled to Salthill to open the defence of their Connacht SFC crown against Galway at 4.
