Intermediate Championship

Southern Gaels 3-9   St. Oliver Plunkett's 1-15

This was an end to end pulsating game played in Ballymore last Sunday. Gaels wind assisted in the opening half controlled much of the play and led by four points at the interval. Much of this was due to captain Sean Dowd who netted twice from a penalty and a close in free. Dermot Tracey was lively in the forwards with Kieran Duncan and Seamus Hoctor holding firm in defence.  The Mullingar outfit made most of the running in the third quarter and with a goal and five pointed frees led entering the closing stages.  Four points down with four minutes remaining Gaels made a well-deserved recovery. Following a foul on Mulligan Sean Dowd netted a 30 metre free to leave the minimum between the sides.  As time ticked away Eoin Jordan stepped up to level matters with a point having been well placed by Darragh Kelly.

Gaels now have a six week break before they play Clonkill for a place in the county semi-final.
