Rosemount club notes

August 12, 2019

Gaa: TEG Cusack Park was the venue for our latest championship game where we took on Killucan. It’s been an extremely hectic schedule for the lads over the past four weeks, and as we enter the business end of the championship it is very much all to play for with one game to go. Conditions were very poor monsoon like forcing both teams into a lot of handling errors. That being said both teams went all out for the two points on offer. Killucan started the game the brightest taking a two point lead. Sean Pettit then scored a fortuitous goal from a free kick to get us back in the game. We were struggling with our handing in particular, but we kept plugging away with scores from David Tone and Sean Pettit. Killucan then struck two goals in quick succession, and as we headed to half time we trailed by four points - 2.03 to 1.02. The conditions didn’t improve the second half but the performance from the lads did. Within five minutes of the second half David Tone had the ball in the net to get it back to a one point game. Killucan then struck straight back with a goal of there own to leave it 3.05 to 2.03 with twenty minutes remaining. From here on we took over and we began to exert our influence on the game. A good score from Sean Pettit followed by good scores from Deccie Mullen got us back level with time up. We had two chances to sneak a win but they didn’t materialize and we held on for a draw. It is all to play for with one game remaining. We sit top of group 2 and we play Shandonagh next weekend and it’s all on the line with the winner qualifying for the quarter finals.
