ACFL Div 4

Ballinagore 1-11  Rosemount 1-12

Our junior side were unfortunate to lose by the minimum margin against visiting Rosemount last Saturday afternoon. Rosemount tore out of the traps to take an early 0-04 to 0-01 lead as our lads struggled to get to grips with the game. Eventually we settled and started to play some nice football. We created three clear-cut goal chances in the first half and normally one or more would have gone in but unfortunately not on this occasion. However we did score some very fine points and lead at the break 0-06 to 0-05. The second half was end to end again but we continued to hold our lead for most of it. Rosemount introduced some strong subs and they made an immediate impact with a well worked goal to take the lead. This was short lived though as a brilliant break from defense by Finian Heeney in a move involving Shane Heraty and Brandon Carey saw Cormac Deegan put through on goal where he calmly finished to put us back in front. However, late pressure by Rosemount created two scoring chances from frees, one a monster effort from far out, and they took them to steal a late victory. While disappointed with the result, our lads gave a great effort and will have learned a lot from this against an experienced Rosemount side. We had fine performances on the day, particularly from Conan Feery, Shane Heraty, Finian Heeney and Cormac Deegan. It was great to see Ciaran Carey make a welcome return to the action and he made a very positive contribution when introduced. Team: Ian Seery, Finian Heeney, Marty Linnane, Robbie Keegan, Tommy Kelly, James Sheerin, Robert Gannon, Brendan Heeney, Enda Claffey, Conan Feery, Cormac Deegan, David Keegan, Shane Heraty, Brandon Carey, Niall Kelly. Subs: Ciaran Carey, Michael Gannon, Nathan Brudell.
