Division 6B Final.

Garrycastle 0-10  Tang  1-10

The 2018 division 6B final versus Tang was played in Tubberclair in heavy rain on Friday evening last.  Garrycastle played a lively first half and looked the better team despite being a point behind at half  time. The team played with great energy and spread the ball wide. Scores came freely for both sides but unfortunately two great goal chances were not converted by Garrycastle. At half time Garrycastle were a point behind 1-7 to 0-9.  The game changed considerably in the second half with Tang getting the upper hand and beginning to win more of the fifty fifty exchanges. The play had tightened up and both sides found scoring difficult. Garrycastle struggled to get the ball through a tight Tang half back line. Despite late pressure Garrycastle were unable to get the scores needed to win. The  open play  and wet conditions took their  toll on the Garrycastle legs later in the game allowing Tang to get over the line.  This game finally brought the curtain down on the 2018 competitions for Garrycastle. This team, Garrycastle’s third team, performed very well all year in qualifying for this final. This league along with the division 1 and 3 leagues ensured that a large number of Garrycastle players got football during the season.

Team: Michael Fagan , Ben Kennedy , John Murphy, Sean Carey, Enda Keena, Gary Mullery, Adam Keena, Conor Duignan, Sean Doak, Fergal Mckiernan, James Duignan, Brian Mccormack, Paul Mulvihill, Paul O'Donovan, Richie Beirne.   Subs, Shane McEnry for Michael Fagan; Eoin Mulvihill for Fergal Mckiernan; Brian Ruane for Richie Beirne;  Noel Galvin for  Brian Ruane; Ross Mulvihill for Brian McCormack;  Eoin Duignan for Ben Kennedy.

Meet up at the clubhouse. It's a great opportunity to get in some exercise and meet people. It's always easier going for that walk with a group than on your own.
